Harwich Police Station

Location: Harwich, MA
Project Type: New Facility
Project Cost: $11 Million
Completion: 2009
Square Footage: 20,500

The new Harwich Police Station is located on the existing site and connects to the current fire station to create a public safety complex. Dispatch, communication, main entrance, and a conference room are shared between the two departments. The new police station provides the operation space and security necessary to meet the current and future needs of the Harwich Police Department. The building has separate areas for the public, police functions, and prisoner areas, providing security and ease of circulation. Features of the new facility include a 2-bay, drive-through sally port, maintenance garage, a large training room, fitness and locker rooms, an evidence lab and storage area, archive storage room, and separate cell areas for men, women, and juveniles. Secure parking for police vehicles and equipment and access to the sally port will be separate from both staff and visitor parking. The police station also serves as the Town’s Emergency Operations Center.
