Kaestle Boos Associates was hired by the City of Cambridge to renovate an existing 110,000 s.f. former office building to be occupied by the Cambridge Police Department and the Emergency Communication Center. Extensive space planning was completed to accommodate all of the necessary functions of the Police Department including booking, holding cells, administrative offices, media room and community areas. The 5th floor functions as the City’s 911 and Emergency Operations Center. To meet the City of Cambridge's standard of a LEED™ Silver certification rating, the new headquarters includes a green roof, high-performance HVAC systems, occupancy sensors, and low-VOC emitting finishes and sealants. The facility will be one of the first LEED™ Silver Certified police stations in New England.
