The Town of Griswold hired Kaestle Boos Associates to review their Space Needs Report and complete an existing conditions and feasibility study. In 2007, voters approved the referendum for the additions and renovations of Griswold Middle School and a new Griswold Elementary School.
Griswold Middle School, which will become a grade 5-8 middle school, is currently in construction. Features of the project include renovations to the administrative offices, food service area, music suite, gymnasium, and auditorium. The addition will include new classrooms, science labs, computer labs, specialized areas, and storage. Security, technology, code compliance, and mechanical and electrical system upgrades are also being completed.
The new Griswold Elementary School will house Pre-K-4 students, and is also currently under construction. Early childhood and elementary classrooms will be clustered together respectively with corresponding play and support areas. Computer labs will be included as well as access for community use of the gymnasium and multi-purpose areas.
Site renovations are included for both projects including bus and parent drop-off areas, circulation improvements, and parking.
